Who uses it, and for what
Agencies building prospect lists
You have a column of company websites from a directory or a Google Maps search. Run CONTACTINFO on the column and get a contact email and phone number next to each one, ready for outreach.
Recruiters and partnership managers
You need the general inbox or the LinkedIn page for a list of companies. One row per website gives you the email, the LinkedIn profile and the other social links in the same place.
Ops teams cleaning a CRM export
Your CRM has websites but no emails or phones. Paste the websites into a sheet, fill the gaps with CONTACTINFO, then check the emails with VALIDATEEMAIL before you import them back.
The same thing, inside Google Sheets
CONTACTINFO takes your websites, a link depth (1 reads each page plus the pages it links to), a total page budget for the run and whether to stay on each site. It runs in the background and writes one row per website to a results tab. Pair it with =VALIDATEEMAIL() to check the emails it finds.
=CONTACTINFO(A2:A50, 1, 25, TRUE)Other ways to do it
- Copy and paste by hand
- Free and accurate for a few sites, but you open every Contact page yourself. It does not scale past a short list.
- IMPORTXML in Google Sheets
- Free, but it reads one page per formula with a selector you write, cannot follow links to the Contact page, and breaks on pages built with JavaScript.
- Contact databases sold per seat
- Large prebuilt contact lists with credit caps and their own data, not what is on the website today. Pricing is per seat or by contract.
- SheetMagic CONTACTINFO
- Reads the live public pages of the websites you list and writes the results straight into Google Sheets. Uses scraping credits, and sites that block automated visitors come back empty.
Questions
- Is this email extractor free?
- Yes. Running it on this page is free and shows up to 5 results. To get every result in Google Sheets, install SheetMagic for free. The free plan includes 100 one-time scraping credits, and larger runs use those credits.
- Is it legal to extract emails from websites?
- This tool only reads public pages that anyone can open in a browser. What you may do with the addresses depends on where you and your recipients are: privacy laws such as GDPR cover collecting and storing personal data, and laws such as CAN-SPAM cover marketing email. Check the rules that apply to you.
- How many results do I get?
- You get one row per website, with every email, phone number and social profile found on it. This page shows up to 5 results per run. In Google Sheets, CONTACTINFO runs on a whole column of websites and writes every row to a results tab.
- What data does the email extractor return?
- For each website: the URL, emails, phone numbers, unconfirmed phone numbers, links to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, WhatsApp, Telegram, Reddit, Snapchat, Threads and Discord, and the number of pages it read.
- How do I get the emails into Google Sheets?
- Install SheetMagic from the Google Workspace Marketplace and click Activate. Put your websites in column A, then type =CONTACTINFO(A2:A50) in an empty cell. The results land on a new tab, one row per website.
- Why did a website come back empty?
- Some sites build their pages with JavaScript, block automated visitors, or do not publish an email at all. The extractor reads the page you list plus the pages it links to, so a contact form with no visible address gives no email.
- Can it find the email of a specific person?
- Only if that address is published on the website. The extractor collects what the site shows publicly, which is often a general inbox like info@ or sales@. It does not guess addresses or look them up in a private database.
